He called on Serbian citizens to remain calm. “They won’t get away with this. We are taking a kind and peaceful approach and trying not to offend any of the random protesters,” he said.

Vucic further added that Serbian intelligence services received a signal in advance about the planned unrest.

Recall that on Sunday afternoon in Belgrade, Serbia, supporters of the pro-Western opposition held a demonstration near the Belgrade administration. Protesters used flagpoles to knock down the building’s front door, break a window, and begin throwing rocks and beer cans at the building. At the same time, they destroyed the CCTV cameras. Protesters blocked the central street of Kralj Milan, the Serbian capital. Between the electoral commission building and the residence of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vucic, a stage appeared from which Serbian rock sounds. Protesters carrying Serbian and European Union flags shout anti-government slogans.

Sunday’s demonstration was the seventh since December 17, when the election results were announced. However, this time eyewitnesses claim that there were a larger number of participants.

Earlier on Sunday, Vucic said the opposition protests in Belgrade and their provocative statements would have no result. He highlighted that in the country “power changes only through elections.” Vucic also stated that there are “Maidan” sentiments in Belgrade, but the people of the republic as a whole do not support the pro-Western opposition.

Previously, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the West has been trying for a long time to implement a “color revolution” scenario, similar to the coup d’état carried out in Ukraine, in the Balkans and, in particularly in Serbia.
