Ministry of Emergency Situations: The fire was extinguished in one of the cabins of the aircraft carrier “Sevmorput” – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

According to the department, an emergency report was received on the territory of the dock of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Atomflot. The fire and rescue services that arrived at the scene confirmed that the fire occurred in the cabin of the light transport “Sevmorput” in an area of ​​30 square meters.

It was noted that firefighters are doing everything possible to put out the fire as quickly as possible and are also inspecting adjacent rooms. It was highlighted that there is no risk of fire spread.

It was later learned that the ship’s fire had been extinguished. “There were no injuries in the incident,” said the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The nuclear-powered container ship “Sevmorput” is the only icebreaking transport ship in the world with a nuclear power plant. It is capable of moving independently in ice up to one meter thick and is designed to transport cargo in boats and containers to remote northern areas.
