This is how the average pension looks by province: from 1,021 euros in Ourense to 1,784 in Bizkaia

The year 2024 will mark a milestone in Spain’s contributory pension system, since it is expected that all the country’s provinces will exceed 1,000 euros per month in retirement payments on average. This is due to a revaluation of pensions of 3.8%, based on the consumer price index (CPI) for November.

How much is the average pension in Ourense?

Ourense, the only province that until now did not reach this figure, will see its average pension increase to 1,021.15 euros, despite being the one that will register the least increase with an additional 37.38 euros per month.

Large increases in these provinces

On the contrary, provinces such as Bizkaia and Álava will experience a notable increase in their average pensions, with improvements of up to 65.33 euros and 64.68 euros respectively. These increases far exceed the 37.38 euros in Ourense or the 39.98 euros in Lugo, with a national average of 52.35 euros.

Which pensioner’s pension increases the most?

At the regional level, Basque retirees will see the largest increase with an average of 64.12 euros more per month. They are followed by Asturians with 62.40 euros and those from Madrid with 60.49 euros. At the lower end, pensioners from Extremadura will receive an additional 43.75 euros per month, followed by those from Galicia with 44.54 euros and those from Murcia with 46.86 euros.
