Part of the employees of the airport services firm dnata began a strike at the Geneva airport to demand an improvement in its strike conditions that will affect one of the busiest days of the year for the facility, which expects 52,000 passengers today.

In the early hours of the morning, several flight delays already occurred and the possibility of diverting two intercontinental links that were supposed to land in the Swiss city to other nearby airports was being considered, while the first pickets could be seen in the facility’s parking lot.

Negotiations between Dnata, for which 600 employees work at the Geneva Airport, and the SSB Union had the last hours of this Saturday to try to stop the strike, without an agreement being reached, before which the workers began the strike with the that have been threatening since the beginning of the week.

Dnata initially proposed a salary increase of 1.7%, which in the course of negotiations rose to 3%, but the workers demand that this increase be 5%.

In Geneva, the company handles tasks such as ticketing and managing passenger and baggage flows onto aircraft, mainly for airlines such as Emirates, Etopian Airlines, Air France, KLM, British Airways, Iberia and Air Lingus.
