Women’s single skating at the Moscow Grand Prix was not without drama. Tears flowed and the skaters’ nervous laughter could be heard, while the coaches almost grabbed their heads.
Sofia Muravyova paid for her excessive stubbornness and never demonstrated a triple axis. At this, Evgeni Plushenko could only smile damnably, because he warned the student and convinced her not to take risks, but he was not listened to.
On the other hand, Kamila Valieva tried to obey in everything Eteri Tutberidze, who actively worked on the mistakes of the past and drew up new study plans for the student. However, the Beijing Olympic champion made a serious mistake, which showed that there were also problems in communication with her coach.

Sinitsyna rehabilitated after failure in the short program
The main fight for the Moscow Grand Prix medals for women began in the strongest warm-up, which was opened by Ksenia Sinitsyna. The figure skater, who won the previous stage of the series, did not perform very well in the short program, falling from a triple lutz and making a mistake in the triple flip-triple toe loop combination. The athlete, of course, was not happy with her result, so she hoped to win again in the free program.
And she did it! The lovely program with fun notes started with the lightest double axel, then Ksyusha hit a perfect cascade of triple lutz and toe loop. The athlete conquered the solo triple loop and the salchow, as well as the triple flip, double axel and double toe loop sequences.
Sinitsina completed the jumping portion with a triple lutz cascade: double toe loop and a solo flip in three turns. As usual, it was impossible to find fault with the choreographic cues and rotations performed by the figure skater. Therefore, the judges gave him good marks: 139.69 points, for a total of 205.15.

The pupil of the Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova, Kamilla Nelyubova, did not take risks and did not opt for a quadruple lutz, performing three rotations. Unfortunately, this did not help her avoid mistakes: the skater fell from a triple flip in the second half of the program. Camilla’s result was not too high: in the end she occupied an intermediate fifth position with a score of just over 180 points. But ahead were the performances of several more athletes.
Ksenia Gushchina, although she made a couple of small mistakes, skated very well, scoring 133.68 points for a total of 201.00.
Muravyova paid for being too stubborn with Trixel
Veronika Yametova took to the ice, focused on the result. The figure skater, known for her consistency and style in high-speed skating, once again starred in a shamanic show at Megasport. Her “Viking Queen” caused a storm of applause: Veronica was very good. Powerful, vibrant, musically precise, she was relentless in her desire to prove that she could compete with the leaders. A small defect in the double axis did not at all spoil the impression of her performance: Yametova handled the rest of the jumps brilliantly. The judges scored her performance 142.08 points, for a total of 212.75.
Sofia Muravyova intended to fight for victory. After the short program, Evgenia Plushenko’s student was upset because her signature jump didn’t work. At the same time, the skater admitted that she opposed the coaches who tried to persuade her to abandon the ultra-c element.
In the free program, the athlete promised that the public would see a trixel, but this did not happen: Sonya fell from the first ultra-c, but wanted to repeat it. Her stubbornness cost her dearly: the trixel again ended in a fall and the skater lost an entire element. The rest of the performance was on par, but the first mistakes and another repetition of the triple jump ruined the spirit, not only of the fans, but also of the athlete herself. Coming out of the ice, she couldn’t hold back her tears and she asked desperately: “Why me?!” Evgeni Plushenko smiled at her, trying to cheer her up, but there was nothing particularly happy about her. Despite the intermediate second place, the scores of 133.58 points, that is, 210.25 in total, are not what was expected from Muravyova.

Tutberidze and Valieva make mistakes again, but they laugh about it
Kamila Valieva had to finish the women’s performances. It turns out that the crowd’s favorite, the confident Beijing Olympic champion in the team tournament, may also be nervous. Before the short program it was not easy for her, but student Eteri Tutberidze controlled herself and even without ultra-c became the best.
In the free program, the skater needed all her courage, because in addition to changes in the wardrobe (Camila presented a new outfit for the production of “Black Panther”) there were also changes in the design of the show. Last time, the athlete received penalty points for a slip and an extra sequence, which caused heated discussions.

Of course, this did not make her performance any less beautiful, but Eteri Tutberidze was quick to reprimand the student for this, asking her why she had not made a sheepskin coat for herself. Apparently, one of the schemes of the program mentioned above involved this jump, and Camila either didn’t want to choose it or got confused and made a mistake. In any of these cases, it can be concluded that although Eteri Georgievna worked to eliminate the problems, this task has not yet been successful.
