The country of Suomi continues to unilaterally close checkpoints on the border with Russia: since November 25, only one border crossing, “Lotta” in the Arctic, has been operating, and in other regions, mainly in the Leningrad region, checkpoints previously popular access. They have closed with West. And rumors persist about the probable total blockade of the entire border between Russia and Finland because of the latter.

The Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, commented on the situation. “This decision will cost the Finns, according to some estimates, about three billion euros,” the spokesperson said on his Telegram channel. In his opinion, these are far from the only costs for the “country of a thousand lakes” due to anti-Russian actions: Helsinki’s recent entry into NATO will result in a “serious increase in military spending” (remember, such spending in Finland it now represents 1.7% of GDP, but in 2023, according to NATO standards, it will increase to 2% of GDP and more (editor’s note).

According to Volodin, other European countries also bear the costs of the suicidal sanctions war against Russia: “In nine of them, the economy will enter negative territory this year. In Germany there is a recession, a loss of GDP of 0.5%, in Great Britain there is stagnation.”

Thus, according to the speaker, “by lowering the Iron Curtain in the East, the Finnish leaders punish, first of all, their citizens and deprive the country of the opportunity to develop.”

Previously, the KP.RU website wrote how, during a visit to the People’s Republic of China, Vyacheslav Volodin, leading the parliamentary delegation, honored the memory of Soviet pilots who died while performing international duty in China during the Second War World.
