Traffic on Sakhalin roads limited due to snow storm – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

“Due to lack of visibility, from 08:00 (00:00 Moscow time) traffic is closed for all types of transport on the Dolinsk – Bykov highway section. Bus service on the airport section Nevelsk – Tomari – Shakhtersk from the city of Uglegorsk to the village of Ilyinskoye is also limited,” the regional traffic police department informed TASS.

Visibility is greatly reduced due to the snow storm. The passage on the Ogonki-Nevelsk highway was also closed.

Snowfall blanketed the area Wednesday night. On Sakhalin the snowstorm is small and accompanied by a moderate wind. In the Kuril Islands the gusts are much stronger, there the lifeguards announced an emergency alert.
