In the first part of the program, viewers were shown how the scandalous divorce of Prince Charles and Diana took place, after which they tried to raise their children and each seeks their own happiness. It ended in a car accident in Paris, which claimed the lives of Princess Diana and her companions. Furthermore, much attention is paid to the Queen’s change of attitude: she sees how the nation is in mourning and she finds the strength to speak words of condolence in public with dignity.
In the second part of the final season, Elizabeth II plans her funeral, the adult princes face their own problems, and William meets his Kate.
