The four Spanish stock exchanges (Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia) will operate on the next holidays, December 6, Spanish Constitution Day, and December 8, feast of the Immaculate Conception, according to the calendar established by Spanish Stock Exchanges and Markets . (BME) ) for this year.

The last holidays that the Spanish Stock Exchange also opened its doors were last November 1, All Saints’ Day, and November 9, the festival of the Virgin of Almudena, patron saint of Madrid.

For this year, BME, the equity market operator, decided that the Spanish stock market and debt markets would not operate on five holidays, two days more than the three on which they did not open their doors in 2022.

In this way, BME proved non-business for the purposes of market operation on April 7, Good Friday; April 10, Easter Monday; Monday, May 1, Labor Day; On Monday, December 25, Christmas Day, and Tuesday, December 26. According to this calendar, between now and the end of the year the Stock Exchange will only stop opening its doors on December 25 and 26.

Since 1998, the Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia Stock Exchanges have maintained a unified calendar of sessions with Europe, so that distortions do not occur in the prices of securities and arbitrage between the different stock exchanges is avoided, as far as possible.

In 2005, the Spanish Stock Exchange addressed a progressive reduction of its holidays to coincide with the main European parks, which closed fewer days than in Spain.
