Scientists analyzed data on the eating habits of 267,000 Europeans and how they affected their health. The study was carried out for 11 years. Men consumed an average of just over 400 grams of ultra-processed foods per day, and women about 330 grams. At the same time, the researchers took into account more than 11 thousand different industrial products.

During the entire observation period, 4,461 people developed cancer, cardiovascular diseases or diabetes. An analysis of the usual diet showed that the risk of cancer is indeed 9% higher among those who consume industrial foods. Fatty, meat products, sauces, condiments and sweet carbonated drinks are especially harmful.

At the same time, some industrial products were rehabilitated. As for breakfast cereals (cereals, muesli), bread, meat substitutes of plant origin and cereal-based products, no relationship was found with the diseases listed above. However, even with them, scientists still recommend observing the measurement so as not to exceed calorie standards.

“You know my opinion. Clear and simple food is best. Eat tasty, but healthy,” commented Zukhra Pavlova, an endocrinologist at the Moscow State University clinic, about the results of the study on her Telegram channel.
