The average price of a hotel room (ADR) stood at 104.9 euros last November, which is 25.4% more than the 83.6 euros it reached in the same month of 2019. , before the pandemic. According to figures published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), in November 6.8 million travelers stayed in Spanish hotels, with just over 19 million overnight stays.

Both values ​​are higher than those registered in the same month of 2019. After the debacle that the Covid-19 pandemic meant for the sector, hotels began to recover strongly since June 2021. This year the growth has been more moderate, but in no case less than 6%. In fact, hotels registered increases of 8.4% in the first months of 2023 compared to 2022.

In November, 52.5% of the places offered were filled, with an annual increase of 5.1%. The places occupied on the weekend rose, for their part, by 3.8%, reaching 61% occupancy. The average stay has decreased by 0.4% in November compared to the same period last year, currently standing at 2.8 overnight stays per traveler.

The largest increases occurred in three-star hotels (11.8%), followed by one-star hostels (10.9%) and four-star hotels (9%). In terms of price per available room, the average for November stood at 67.1 euros, 15.1% more than a year before. Of the 6.8 million travelers who registered in Spanish hotels, 3.57 million were residents in Spain and the remaining 3.23 million were residents abroad.

Andalusia, Community of Madrid and Catalonia are the main destinations for travelers residing in Spain this month, with 18.5%, 14.7% and 11.5% of the total overnight stays respectively. The main destination chosen by non-residents is the Canary Islands, with 45.1% of the total. The next destinations for foreign tourists are Catalonia and Andalusia, with 15.6% and 13.7% of the total, respectively.
