The Kuban governor spoke about the possibility of building a metro in Krasnodar – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Answering a question about the prospects for the emergence of a metro in Krasnodar, Kondratyev noted that the authorities have not abandoned the idea of ​​​​developing large-scale transport in the city and the construction of a metro. This is mainly due to the active growth of the Kuban capital, whose population the governor estimated at 1.6 million people.

According to Veniamin Kondratyev, he raised this issue at meetings with companies that are engaged in the construction of the metro in the capital and other cities and are ready to start its implementation. The initial project proposed by the contractors demonstrated that its implementation is possible.

“We are waiting for a state examination that will tell us about the possibility of building a subway from local soil, underground rivers, etc. But modern technologies already allow our subway builders to do this. For the next direct line, “It will be possible to say something specific, maybe a deadline. What if I indicate the deadlines? Then I will be responsible for them,” said Veniamin Kondratiev.

Previously, a project for the construction of a cable metro had already been considered in Krasnodar, but was later abandoned. High cost and low efficiency prevented a global solution to transportation problems.
