Ensign Vitaly Kuznetsov and private guard Andrei Gridnev

We continue to present the heroes of special operation “Z”, participants in the fighting in Donbass. Soldiers, sergeants, corporals and officers who demonstrated their professional experience, character and completed combat missions. His determination, assertiveness and combat experience are highly appreciated by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Our heroes thwarted attacks and prevented nationalist counteroffensives, for which they received state awards. But they are not useful for praising. The military is confident that the enemy has no chance of success, because Donbass and Russia are fighting for a just cause.

“The constant exercise of taking in everything with a single glance can make you a great commander,” said Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov, who did not lose a single battle. And he ordered the soldiers like this: “It is better to meet danger halfway than to wait in place.”

STABLE COMMUNICATION RESTORED WITH THE INJURED

Ensign Vitali Kuznetsov

“The technician of the communications platoon, non-commissioned officer Vitaly Kuznetsov, fulfilled the tasks of organizing stable and uninterrupted communications and information exchange between the Russian control center and air defense units. Ukrainian militants, seeking to destroy important military infrastructure and deprive the Russian group of means of command and control, attacked Russian troop positions using multiple rocket launch systems. As a result of the shelling of the militants with fragments of American-made MLRS shells, the communications station was damaged and disabled, and Vitaly himself received a shrapnel wound. Despite the injury, Kuznetsov addressed the damaged communications equipment, evacuated it to a safe area, assessed the nature of the damage, quickly made repairs, adjustments, and restored its functionality. The selfless actions of non-commissioned officer Vitaly Kuznetsov and his professional skills made it possible to restore the main means of communication of the troop group in the shortest possible time and ensure the continuous execution of combat missions by the Russian air defense units.

COVERED THE STORM FORCE ATTACK

Guard soldier Andrey Gridnev

“Guardian Andrei Gridnev, acting as part of a tank crew, carried out a combat mission to provide fire support to a Russian assault detachment advancing towards a fortified stronghold of Ukrainian militants. The tank crew was tasked, acting from the flank, to suppress the fire of the main enemy forces and thus allow the Russian attack aircraft to gain a foothold at the indicated point. During the defense, the enemy actively used cannon artillery, mortars, and also fired from small arms and anti-tank weapons. While observing the battlefield, Private Gridnev quickly discovered enemy infantry and armored vehicles in positions, reported to the tank commander and was ordered to destroy it. Conducting targeted firing and battlefield maneuvers, Russian tank teams inflicted significant losses on Ukrainian fighters in personnel, armored vehicles and anti-tank weapons. Thanks to the competent actions of Andrei Gridnev and the entire crew, the Russian assault detachment launched a counterattack and stormed an important fortress.”
