The groom who organized the wedding of the century for $59 million faces life in prison

A lavish five-day celebration wasn’t enough for Texas couple Madeline Brockway and Jacob LaGrone.

The newlyweds, who celebrated the “wedding of the century” in Paris a couple of weeks ago and spent around $59 million on it, are once again the center of attention. For Texas couple Madeline Brockway and Jacob LaGrone, a lavish five-day celebration in France, a night at the Palace of Versailles, a rehearsal dinner at the Paris Opera and a Maroon 5 performance at a private party weren’t enough . But their more fairytale-like life together could collapse in an instant, as the new husband faces life in prison for shooting police officers.

Jacob LaGrone, 29, was charged in March with three counts of aggravated assault on a public servant. In Texas, such crimes are severely punished.

That’s how it was. On March 14, residents of the Texas town of Westworth Village began calling police, complaining of hearing gunshots. Three police officers came to investigate what happened, but they did not even manage to get close to the house where the shooter was, when shots were fired in his direction. The shooter turned out to be LaGrone.

Under local law, if LaGrone is convicted, he faces five years to life in prison. In August, the district attorney’s office offered him 25 years in prison in a plea deal, but the American apparently did not accept that offer.

On November 30, hearings on this case resumed. LaGrone’s attorneys declined to comment.

It remains a big question whether the owner of a group of Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Florida, Bob Brockway, will be able to help his unfortunate son-in-law. Madeline and Jacob dated for many years before getting married. While more is known about Madeline, there is very little information about Lagrone in open sources. She is known to have graduated from the University of Mississippi and worked in the music industry, notably as a production assistant for country singer Jason Aldean. It is unknown what the man is doing now.
