More and more households are deciding to use already prepared menus for lunches and dinners on the most important days of the Christmas holidays. Some of the main supermarket chains, such as Mercadona or El Corte Inglés, have included in their catalog of offers, during these days, already prepared menus with a cost similar to that of purchasing all the ingredients, meat, fish and seafood . . Chef Dabiz Muñoz has also joined the trend and has repeated the “Goxa Christmas Box”, announced by the owner of Diverxo on his social networks, although with a higher price than those in supermarkets.

These prepared menus offer several alternatives for a different culinary experience full of facilities for Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve or Epiphany dates. From starters to tempting desserts, including meats, fish and other main dishes that will convince more and more customers. The option of combining is also considered, that is, buying already prepared dishes and cooking family recipes at home so that traditions are not lost.

The prepared menu of El Corte Inglés

The complete menu is priced at 35 euros per person, choosing one dish from each group. It consists of a starter (Rock Fish Pie or Seafood Stuffed Peppers); a main (Pularda roti stuffed with Port sauce, muscatel and foie or Monkfish stew with carabineros); a garnish (Sauteed mushrooms, garlic, wild mushrooms and mushrooms or Roasted potatoes with butter and Rosemary); and a dessert (Creamy cheesecake with red fruit coulis or Valrhona dark chocolate pyramid).

But if we want everyone to be able to choose to their liking, that is also possible. Individual dishes can be chosen from a wide variety of recipes. There are starters such as octopus, croquettes, clams or scallops; different meats of suckling pig, lamb, beef or poultry; fish, monkfish, salmon, hake and cod, as well as side dishes, sauces and desserts.

El Corte Inglés Christmas orders must be placed at the centers where the service is available, by phone or through the website. The dates are as follows: until December 22 for Christmas Eve; until December 29 for New Year’s Eve; until January 3, 2024 for Kings. Ordering from December 1 to 24, all dishes have a 10% discount.

Mercadona, the best option to accompany

At Mercadona, the offer is smaller and the dishes are more suitable to accompany the menu prepared at home. For Christmas Eve, the deadline to reserve is December 21. For New Year’s Eve, the reservation date will be until December 28. Reservations will be made in stores in the Ready to Eat section. The options are the following:

18 cold canapés (for 3 or 4 people), 15 euros: there are nine different tartlets, with flavors such as cheese with salmon and dill, sobrasada with honey and pine nuts or hummus or stilton cheese and crispy mango.

Seafood salad (for 4 or 6 people), 15 euros: made with shellfish, hake, prawns, mayonnaise and spun egg.

Half a roast suckling pig (for 3 or 4 people), 70 euros: tender, juicy meat and golden, crispy skin. Accompanied by baked potatoes and candied onions.

Suckling lamb shoulder (for 1 or 2 people), 25 euros: marinated with rosemary, thyme, salt and lemon

Stewed cheek (for 1 or 2 people), 18 euros: with red wine sauce, accompanied by truffled mashed potatoes.

Stuffed chicken thigh with truffle sauce (for 1 or 2 people), 15 euros. Stuffed with minced chicken, prunes, foie, truffle, onion, salt and spices. Accompanied by truffle sauce and truffled mashed potatoes.

Dabiz Muñoz repeats his “Caja Goxa”

The one chosen as the best chef in the world for the third consecutive time repeats with his Christmas Box from the GoXO restaurant. It will be available for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinners, although they can only be ordered in Madrid, and can be ordered both through the restaurant’s app and for pickup. The order will be delivered on the same days as Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The price is higher than that of supermarkets, 270 euros for two people. It has become more expensive compared to last Christmas, it cost 225 euros with a selection of similar dishes. Includes appetizer, starter, main course and dessert. Strawberry gazpacho with marinated shrimp tataki, creamy XO tartar, flying fish tobiko and low-temperature egg.

Duroc pork rib cannelloni, vine-roasted barbecue with trumpets of death, tamarind juice and lemongrass bechamel and sansho pepper.

French yellow leg grain chicken roasted and stuffed with foie, kimchi, epazote and bacon.
