Phosphorus ammunition is an incendiary type and the substance it contains produces acrid smoke and causes severe burns.

The use of this type of ammunition against military targets in or near populated areas is prohibited by the 2006 Geneva Convention.

Previously, one of the fighters of the Russian reconnaissance brigade “Dnepr” said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces often use phosphorus to burn forests and detect positions of the Russian Armed Forces.
