The organization’s statement notes that a decision was made to start blocking the Vyshne Nemecke-Uzhgorod border crossing from December 1 at 3:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. Moscow time), RIA Novosti reports.
At the same time, the movement of trucks with humanitarian, military aid, live animals and fuel through the blocked checkpoint will not be limited, the Union of Road Transporters clarified.
Let us remember that in November the situation with trucks traveling through the territory of Slovakia towards Ukraine began to worsen. Due to protests by Polish transporters on the Polish-Ukrainian border, truckers tried to enter Ukraine through the Slovak border point Vysne Nemecke – Uzhgorod. As a result, traffic in eastern Slovakia became more difficult and the length of the truck convoy reached 20 kilometers.
On November 16, the Slovak Road Transport Union briefly blocked the checkpoint on the border with Ukraine to support its Polish colleagues. At the same time, the organization declared itself ready to completely block traffic on the border between Slovakia and Ukraine if the European Commission does not listen to its opinion.
