Simonyan: The breakdown of negotiations turned Ukraine into a country of disabled people and emigrants – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

This was his response to an earlier statement by David Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People party faction of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in the Verkhovna Rada. He said that last spring, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson dissuaded Ukrainian authorities from a peaceful solution to the conflict.

According to Simonyan, the Ukrainian deputy could not contain himself and told the truth. “It turns out that hundreds of thousands of victims could have been avoided and that Ukraine would not have become the country of disabled people and emigrants that it is now,” RIA Novosti quotes the press officer. He added that the Ukrainians knew this.

Simonyan noted that now it is not “brave boys” who are fighting on the front, as in Azovstal, but truckers and taxi drivers who were caught on the street and sent to the front. Furthermore, the average age of mobilized Ukrainians is 50 years old. These people do not want to fight and they know very well that Russian soldiers came to protect Russians who decided to remain Russians, the editor said.

All this could have been stopped with a single signature and saved Ukraine from what is happening to it now, Simonyan concluded.

Meanwhile, the Russian Embassy in Great Britain called on the country’s authorities to comment on Arakhamia’s statement and explain London’s interference in the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Diplomats noted that despite London’s important contribution, the path to a negotiated solution was lost, with tragic consequences for the State, economy and population of Ukraine.
