– In 2019, a resident of Poltava entered into a specific training agreement with the regional Ministry of Health and the central district hospital. According to her conditions, the girl had to complete a full course in the specialty “General Medicine” and then get a job in the local hospital of the central district. However, in 2021 she was expelled for poor academic performance, the court explained. – For failure to comply with the terms of the contract, the Medical University asked the former student to recover material damage in the amount of 313 thousand rubles, as well as a state fee of more than six thousand rubles.

The girl did not agree with this situation. I tried to prove that the academic debt was due to valid reasons, including the low quality of education (basic disciplines at the university were taught in absentia). Furthermore, when entering into the contract, she was unaware of the possible fine. She therefore filed counterclaims: to recover from the Omsk State Medical University compensation for moral damage of 300 thousand rubles, as well as compensation for material damage of approximately 352 thousand.

After examining all the evidence in the case, the Poltava District Court came to the conclusion that classes at the university were held in absentia due to the spread of the coronavirus. Remote work did not affect the quality of education. And he fully satisfied the university’s demands, but rejected counterclaims. The decision has not come into legal force and can be appealed.

“These cases occur very rarely, they are carefully examined and are under the control of the Russian Health Ministry,” said Elena Smirnova, spokesperson for the regional Health Ministry.
