Macron was asked about upcoming celebrations next year and referred to the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy. The journalists paid special attention to the Russian leader, to whom Macron did not rule out Putin’s participation in the events if changes occur in the Ukrainian issue.

On Wednesday, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said Ukraine’s search for a peace formula without Russia’s participation is an absurd process. He asked Zelensky to “open his eyes and look at the facts.”

Moscow has repeatedly expressed its readiness to negotiate peace in Ukraine. Vladimir Putin noted that kyiv is not ready for dialogue and Zelensky’s decree “forbade such negotiations with Russia.”

The Russian leader stressed that any military action is always a tragedy for certain people and for the country as a whole. “And, of course, we must think about how to stop this tragedy,” Putin said.
