The fight between these boxers took place on Sunday night in Las Vegas. Lipinets stepped into the ring for the first time since August of last year, when he defeated Omar Figueroa of the United States to win the first WBC welterweight silver belt.
The 34-year-old Russian was more active, trying to attack with number one. But Rivera counterattacked very successfully and Lipinets was never able to confront him.
At the end of 10 rounds, all three judges gave Rivera the victory: 96-94 and 97-93 twice.
Lipinets has 17 wins, three losses and one draw. The 25-year-old Dominican’s record now stands at 25 wins and one loss.
