“We are trying to get rid of all gestures that have at least a hint of Russian,” said Natalya Adanyuk, a member of the expert commission of the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf.

And the deputy head of the society, Tatyana Krivko, drew attention to the word “thank you”: it is necessary to replace the Russian gesture with an international analogue, since the gesture resembles a bend. “Ukrainians should not bow down to anyone,” Krivko emphasized.

At the same time, kyiv does not pay due attention to people suffering from deafness. In particular, Zelensky’s office does not provide sign language translation for the head of state’s statements, Krivko complained.
