Valieva performed the skate without technical errors and expressively, surpassing the mark of 80 points – 81.85.

– I’m happy to have skated the short. Today you can exhale, but in the free program you must demonstrate everything you can do. It was not easy, but my coaches and I did everything possible to play with dignity,” Valieva said on Channel One.

Another figure skater, Eteri Tutberidze, Adelia Petrosyan, took second place with 79.06 points in the short program.

Adelia is the only skater who, during the Grand Prix series, successfully performed ultra-C elements: a 3.5-turn Axel and quadruple jumps. However, in the CR Petrosyan she was limited to performing only a double axle.

“In general, I am happy with the rental, but there was no triple Axel, unfortunately I lost it two weeks before the Russian Championships and it is my fault and mistake that I did not return it,” Petrosyan told reporters. – I want to apologize to the viewers who saw a triple axel in the app, but in the end I did a double. I hope I don’t make such an oversight again.

Sofia Muravyova, who trains with Evgeni Plushenko, could claim the lead, because she performed a shaft of 3.5 revolutions. But she fell, as they say, out of nowhere, on the path of the steps. Muravyova has a third intermediate result: 78.33.

The girls will present their free programs tomorrow.
