In Buryatia, a mobilized man who did not return from vacation was sentenced to five years – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

In March of this year, Zorigto Arabzhaev left the Northern Military District area and went on vacation for ten days. He then bought a certificate of his own death from him.

The investigation revealed that the document was false. The man was arrested in May. When issuing its verdict, the court took into account mitigating circumstances: admission of guilt, repentance and participation in hostilities.

But the punishment is still severe: five years in a maximum security colony.

The verdict of a mobilized man who left his military unit without permission was previously reported. A resident of the Tomsk region was called up for service in September 2022. And in December he left the unit. In March, the missing man was found and returned to the unit. But after a couple of weeks, the Tomsk resident again left the service and devoted himself to his own affairs. This time a criminal case was opened. The Tomsk Garrison Military Court found the man guilty and sentenced him to seven years in prison.
