One of the recipients was soldier Evgeniy Kudinov. During the battle for which he was awarded, an enemy tank was 50 meters away from him.

“At first there was about two hours of artillery shelling, then they said on the radio that the tanks were moving in our direction. My comrades and I prepared for battle. I heard the tanks approaching, I went out of the trench onto the road. The tank was about 50 meters from me, but it turned out that I was a little faster,” the soldier told RIA Novosti.

The enemy, according to him, did not manage to get through. The Russian army repelled the tank attack and the Ukrainian infantry was not even allowed to approach their formations.

Major Andrei Mityashin led the battle: by voice and by radio he gave orders to who to do what.

“In these battles, the enemy outnumbered us both in manpower and armored vehicles: NATO-style combat vehicles were used. But thanks to the coordinated actions of our units: motorized riflemen, artillerymen, tankers, the enemy was returned to its original position “lines and suffered heavy losses. The order was destroyed. Five or six tanks and several infantry fighting vehicles, including those from NATO, “said the major. He admitted that the combat experience accumulated since the beginning of the Northern Military Region helps him in the fight.

“Our guys acted unexpectedly and boldly, the enemy was stunned,” said another recipient, Junior Sergeant Vyacheslav Matskevich. He along with his companions expelled a garrison from a strong point, six times larger than the assault group.
