Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal has said that nearly 40 percent of the votes have been cast in the 12th National Assembly elections. He gave this information at the post-voting press conference on Sunday (January 7) around 5:30 p.m.

The CEC said that the average voter turnout across the country is about 40 percent. The final percentage has not yet arrived. There were no incidents of serious violence. The election was peaceful.

He said that the apprehension in the election was about the attendance. One group indirectly declared resistance. There was some violence too Kazi Habibul Awal also mentioned that the voters exercised their right to vote independently.

He also said that the ballots which are sealed inside the box but do not have a signature on the back, will be excluded.

Regarding the law and order forces, the Chief Election Commissioner said, I have not received any complaint about the law and order forces including the police. In all the places I have checked, everyone has said that the law and order forces have cooperated as much as possible. We transferred many police officers before the polls. All in all, a message has been sent across the administration.
