The satellite city of the Novovoronezh NPP – Novovoronezh, Voronezh region, participated in the Physics Now Concern career guidance project. The city’s schools met at their headquarters with representatives of the Ivanovo State Energy University (ISEU) and the Tomsk Polytechnic Universities (TPU), as well as the Obninsk Institute of Atomic Energy of the National Nuclear Research University MEPhI .

“We are participating in the project for the second year. We are popularizing physics so that as many graduates as possible take it for the Unified State Exam. In my opinion, students in nuclear cities study school subjects in more detail and are more concentrated. “We want to attract as many of these guys as possible. Of course, they will be in demand. In the labor market, our graduates work in various companies in the country, supporting its economy,” said Marina Fadeeva, deputy director of the admissions organization department at ISUE.

The goal of the “Physics Now” project, which has been running since 2022, is to interest high school students in physics and create a desire to connect their lives with this fundamental science, including nuclear energy.

“This career guidance project is unique. It is important for high school students because it allows them to look at one of the most interesting sciences from a different perspective. It is also designed to help schoolchildren decide on their future profession, motivating them to enter” The field of nuclear energy is developing rapidly and a large number of young specialists are already needed,” said Oleg Urazov, deputy director of personnel management at the Novoronezh station.

Novovoronezh students in grades 9-11 attended six career guidance lessons, two intensive school discipline courses and participated in an “all-terrain” physical competition, which attracted about 100 people. Also, as part of the project, the head of the personnel development department of the Novovoronezh station, Angelina Eremina, met with the guys.

“The intensive course was excellent and interesting. We learned a lot about physics as a science, about the university itself. After the class, I can say that I will now consider these universities for admission,” said Dana Sapegina, 11th grade student. at Novovoronezh School No. 2.

The project also aims to train physics teachers. All Novovoronezh teachers receive advanced training courses prepared by the Consortium together with the TPU.

In addition, within the framework of the project, this year the number of students in grades 10 and 11 has increased, who can have the opportunity to prepare for the Unified State Exam in Physics for free. To do this, they must register on the project website, pass the test and be among the winners. Schoolchildren who have been selected, trained and passed the Unified State Exam in Physics with a score of 90 points or more will receive a special scholarship from Concern.
