NDTV reported this news in a report on Tuesday. Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) sources said that as soon as the bus caught fire, the driver got all the passengers down and later informed the fire service.
Video taken by passers-by showed the bus bursting into flames. As firefighters tried to put out the fire, heavy smoke billowed.
According to BMTC sources, initially it is believed that the engine was overheating. As the bus was started in this situation, it caught fire.
There were 30 passengers in the bus at the time of the fire. However, no passengers were harmed as the driver removed them in time.
Senior BMTC officials reached the spot and started investigating the cause. BMTC sources said that appropriate action will be taken after the investigation is over.
