A St. Petersburg court recovered almost 14 million rubles from an officer for an accident with a military vehicle – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The material indicates that the accused commanded an artillery and anti-aircraft missile battery and was a high-ranking combat vehicle.

During the execution of a combat order, the officer deployed the vehicle’s autonomous optical position (AOP) in combat mode and did not return it to the folded position.

“As a result… while heading to its destination… along the Pulkovskoye highway, a combat vehicle collided with the span of a railway bridge and a piece of military equipment – AOP – was damaged,” the message reads.

The court took into account mitigating circumstances: the presence of a small child by the officer, his positive characteristics, as well as participation in hostilities in Syria, Africa and in a special operation in Ukraine.

In addition, the military took active measures to restore the combat vehicle.

As a result, the court fined him 50,000 rubles and also recovered 13.9 million rubles according to the Russian Defense Ministry’s claim for damages.
