An increase in incidence is being recorded in different countries, and this year several viruses attack us at the same time. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Gorelov noted that in Russia, as in other countries, a tridemic is recorded: that is, common ARVI, influenza and Covid at the same time.

Furthermore, in China, France and already in the Netherlands there is a serious increase in atypical mycoplasma pneumonia in children. Pediatrician Evgeniy Timakov recommends paying attention to prolonged cough in children (more than 3 weeks), as well as shortness of breath and labored breathing.

Very timely, given the increase in incidence, a new study was published in the journal Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology that a simple method helps reduce the severity of covid. And it even prevents hospitalization in case of severe forms.

This is a simple warm salt water gargle! Well, rinsing your nose.

Scientists studied the effect of two solutions at once: when a teaspoon of salt (2.5 mg) and a tablespoon (6 mg) were dissolved in a cup of water (230-250 ml). It turned out that both solutions work equally effectively, so it depends solely on your preferences: some people like a more concentrated one, others – a weaker one.

Most likely, the fact is that the tonsils often become a reservoir of infection. Professor and biologist Ancha Baranova writes about this on her channel: “SARS-CoV-2 was found in approximately a quarter of the pairs of tonsils and adenoids removed in 2021, without any symptoms.” The only symptom of the disease was swelling of the tonsils, so they were removed because they prevented the children from sleeping, practically blocking their breathing. And this already represents a serious danger, even for the brain, which suffers from a lack of oxygen.

It turns out that the palatine tonsils and adenoids are the place where the virus can remain for a long time and without symptoms. And it also confuses the diagnosis. A child, let’s say, contracted ARVI, but during a PCR test, a swab from the tonsils, showed Covid. And this is both treatment and observation.

So gargle with saline solution; This will help counteract the development of the virus. And not just Covid: rinsing and washing is considered an effective way to combat any seasonal virus.

MEANWHILE

The second stage of testing of the updated Sputnik for teenagers began

On November 7, testing of the updated Sputnik V vaccine for adolescents began at Sechenov University. The second dose should be administered after 21 days. That’s literally today.

As the director of the Clinical Institute of Child Health that bears his name explained to TASS. NF Filatova, corresponding member of the RAS Ekaterina Alekseeva, a group of 50 teenagers aged 12 to 17 was formed.

Trial participants will be observed for 180 days, but the first results will be known on day 28 after vaccination.

“Gam-Covid-Vac M”, updated for the HBV subline of the “omicron” coronavirus strain, will be administered to adolescents whose status fully meets the selection criteria for the study, Sechenovka added. The drug is administered twice with an interval of 21 days. Doctors will monitor patients for 24 hours after vaccination. The entire observation period for study participants will be 180 days. As noted by Alekseeva, the first results of the study will be known on the 28th day after vaccination. “The work on updating the antigenic composition of the children’s vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19 will form the basis for its periodic update, following the example of the flu vaccine,” the university said.
