A Chinese cultural tourism promotion activity was held in Los Angeles in the western part of the United States (US) to promote bilateral tourism and cultural exchange.
The event was held during “Nihao China!”, a series of overseas tourism promotion activities themed Yellow River 2023. In the US, the event featured a captivating photo exhibition and cultural presentation of the Yellow River.

At the event, the Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Guo Shaochun underlined the importance of tourism exchange and cooperation as an integral part of China-US economic and trade relations, as well as a great opportunity for deeper understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

Head of the Los Angeles Convention and Tourism Board Adam Burke said that tourism is a bridge that builds exchanges between people.

“When you think about shared experiences, people-to-people exchanges are what hold our culture together. You may have heard the quote by the famous American writer Mark Twain who said that travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness,” said Burke.

He added, only through exchange between peoples, dialogue, can we understand that we have more in common than anything that can divide us.

China announced the resumption of group tour activities to dozens of overseas destinations, including Japan, UK, US and Australia.

This year’s edition of the Yellow River was launched as part of efforts to promote cultural exchange between provinces and areas along the Yellow River and countries around the world as well as to boost tourism.

About 200 business leaders, tourism industry executives and government officials from both countries attended the event.
