In today’s section “Chinese curiosities” – a unique modified version of the Radeon RX 580 graphics card from a little-known company Kinology. A distinctive feature of the accelerator is that it has 16 GB of video memory instead of the standard 8 GB.
It should be clarified that the Kinology brand is not an official partner of AMD in China. The latter probably does not know about the existence of such a video card. It is possible that the manufacturer, under the guise of new video cards, will also release models that were previously used in mining.
As part of the Polaris architecture, to which the Radeon RX 580 2048SP belongs, only the Instinct MI6 professional graphics accelerator was produced with 16 GB of memory, based on the same graphics processor as the specified game model.
It is noteworthy that the modified version of the Radeon RX 580 2048SP does not require the use of any special drivers. The attached screenshots of the GPU-Z program indicate that the graphics card is running the official Radeon driver version 23.5.2 WHQL, indicating that it is fully compatible with this software. The accompanying graphics performance data shows that despite doubling the amount of video memory, the Radeon RX 580 2048SP 16GB is still outperformed by the GeForce GTX 1060 6GB in the Ludashi test (LDS), which is heavily used by Chinese reviewers.
As part of the Radeon RX 580 2048SP GPU model, there are 2048 stream processors, and the chip operates at a frequency of 1206 MHz. The card is equipped with Samsung’s 16GB GDDR5 memory with 256-bit bus support and 192GB/s bandwidth.
