The performance will be carried out as part of the Poetry.doc project and will be the second production based on the work of contemporary writers. The author of the play herself, playwright and poet María Vatutina became the heroine of the project, so she began to write the drama with special enthusiasm. During the process of conceiving the project, Igor Karaulov himself was not sure that his life could become the subject of an entire production.

“When I tried to understand what kind of performance there would be in the genre, in the end I came to the conclusion that only a tragicomedy could emerge,” he admits. “Because my life is not heroic. My life is a monotonous place, where – funny. There is nothing particularly notable in this. But there were moments and moments that were common for me and for many people in our country and in my generation. And From this “garbage” of these historical whirlwinds, questions arise. My poems have grown towards me and society.”

According to the hero, today more and more people turn to poetry as a source of information about the world. This is an honest and emotional conversation with the reader about the events he experienced together with the author and with the entire country.

The performance is not at all intended to be a historical genre. Over the course of 57 years of his life, Igor Karaulov witnessed many events. All of them influenced the author and his creative worldview.

As part of the project, two more performances are expected based on the works of two modern poetesses – Anna Revyakina and Anna Dolgareva. They live with people and convey their thoughts and aspirations more quickly and clearly than any informative report. The very name of the project, “Poetry.doc”, demonstrates a surprising combination of documentary and art. The implementation of this idea was possible thanks to the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
