Information about the Oscar nominee’s departure surfaced earlier this month, with diagnostic hints but no specific reasons.

O’Neill passed away on December 8 at the age of 83. In 2012 he was diagnosed with cancer and, in 2001, chronic leukemia. The cause, as The Blast reported Friday, citing a medical report, was congestive heart failure. The actor had cardiomyopathy.

O’Neal was buried at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village, near UCLA.

Ryan O’Neal was born in 1941 in Los Angeles. Filmed from the 1950s: the original Perry Mason, Hiller’s Love Story, Bogdanovich’s Paper Moon, Desperate Housewives and Bones.

He was married to actresses Lee Taylor-Young and Joanna Moore. They divorced both of them. But before that, the couple managed to give him a total of three children.
