“The bright memory of the great composer will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him, worked with him, in the hearts of all admirers of his work,” Butaeva concluded.

The farewell ceremony and funeral of the People’s Artist of the USSR will take place tomorrow, December 24, at 12:00 in Makhachkala, at the cemetery at 64 Tankaeva Street.

Murad Kazhlaev was born on January 15, 1931 in Baku. He studied piano at the music school of the Baku Conservatory, in the group of “children with absolute pitch.” In 1955 he graduated from the Azerbaijan State Conservatory. He taught at the Tchaikovsky Music School in Makhachkala, worked as chief conductor of the Dagestan Radio Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of the Dagestan Philharmonic.

In 1965, he became the founder and leader of the vocal and instrumental ensemble “Gunib” (later known as “Gaya”), one of the brightest Soviet VIAs.

Kazhlaev is the author of ballets, musicals and operettas, orchestral and jazz works, and music for dozens of films. Among other things, Kazhlaev wrote the music for the 1965 film “Barbos Visiting Bobik”: this is the first film adaptation of the story by Nikolai Nosov, best known for the 1977 animated adaptation.
