Besiktas in the 2023/2024 season is associated with failures and scandals. Surely you remember how the Club recently suspended five players with the official phrase “incompatibility with the team and poor performance.” And then the coach was fired again. He is already the third of this season! The latest victim was club legend Ryza Chalymbay (almost 500 games for Besiktas). He lost to Alanyaspor (1-3) and then found out about his dismissal. In total, the 60-year-old coach played seven games, in which he won three times, lost three times and once shared points with his rival. This season, Besiktas is taking no notice.
Immediately, the Ntvspor portal presented seven possible substitutes. Fabio Cannavaro, Slaven Bilic, Jorge Sampaoli, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Frank de Boer, Bruno Genesio and Stanislav Cherchesov. They want to consult with everyone about possible jobs and make a final decision soon.

In general, the actions of the Besiktas management this season are understandable. They definitely expected a fight for a place in the top three, as well as a decent performance in the European competition. But in December they took third place in the Conference League group and fifth place in the Super League: 23 points behind Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray!
The club started the season with the experienced Şenol Güneş. He led Besiktas to the European autumn, placed fourth in the championship and then lost to Lugano (2-3) in the LC. It is interesting that this is not the first time that Besiktas has paid attention to Cherchesov: at the end of 2021 his name was already on the list of possible candidates, but then the club chose Gunesh. And now the Russian coach is once again among the possible appointees.

Do they stand in front of Besiktas? More likely yes. The club needs to get out of a big crisis. And try to reach the European competition at the end of the season. The disadvantage for Cherchesov is that he will not have time to prepare. The Super League will of course have a two-week break for the New Year, but the Turkish Championship will resume on January 7.
