As reported by local media, the incident occurred on Friday, December 22 at 1:27 p.m. local time (7-27 a.m. Moscow time) on the second level of a large transport terminal near Suwon Station.

According to eyewitnesses, the regular bus number 30-1 did not stop and continued to move along the pedestrian crossing, where there were many people at that time. As a result, one elderly woman died from her injuries and 17 were injured of varying severity.

Among the injured was the bus driver, a man over 50 years old. According to police, the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident. The bus’s braking and steering systems were fine. The driver himself was so shocked by what happened that he could not answer the questions of the law enforcement officers.

The police said they are investigating the causes of the tragedy and have so far refrained from giving any versions. At the same time, speculation arose that the cause could be ice: these days there are severe frosts in Korea and heavy snowfall in several areas.
