The Board of Directors of the Family Business Institute has unanimously agreed to propose Ignacio Rivera Quintana as a candidate for the Presidency. The proposal has been adopted after consultation with the Institutional Commission and in accordance with the statutory framework of the association.

The members of the Family Business Institute must proceed to elect the new president at their next General Assembly, which will be held in May in Madrid. If his candidacy is successful, Rivera will become the sixteenth president of the Institute, replacing Andrés Sendagorta, who was appointed as president at the General Assembly held in May 2022 for a period of two non-extendable years, as stipulated in the statutes. of the institution.

Ignacio Rivera Quintana (A Coruña, 1965) is the current president and CEO of the Corporación Hijos de Rivera brewing group, a family company founded in Galicia in 1906. He belongs to the fourth generation of the family and is the great-grandson of its founder.

Hijos de Rivera is a Galician, independent company with 100% national and family capital, whose main activity focuses on the manufacturing and distribution of beer. It is present in the premium segment with its most recognized brand, Estrella Galicia, and in the specialty segment with the 1906 family. The company also has extensive activity that covers both the water sector (with the brands Cabreiroá, Agua de Cuevas, Fontarel and AUARA) as well as the distribution of beverages nationwide.

Currently, Hijos de Rivera contributes 2.5 billion euros to the Spanish economy and represents 1% of the GDP in Galicia, the region where it maintains its headquarters. In addition, it generates 52,000 direct and indirect jobs, and its brands are present in more than 70 countries. Ignacio Rivera joined the company in 1990 and in 1994 he assumed the Commercial and Marketing Management. Since 1999, he became deputy general director and director of Hijos de Rivera and, in 2007, he assumed the General Management of the company with a commitment to innovation, international expansion and the distribution business.

In 2012 he was appointed CEO, consolidating the Company’s national presence, promoting international expansion and expanding the water business. In 2016 he was named Leader of the Year by the ‘Industrial and Distribution Leaders Club’, and in 2017 he received the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Since 2020, he is the executive president of Corporación Hijos de Rivera. He has recently also been appointed president of Cerveceros de España and is also, as of December 2023, advisor to FIAB (Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries). He also holds the position of Patron of the Elcano Royal Institute.
