Telefónica also terminates the other labor front that it had open with a proposal that convinces the unions. The telecommunications operator has closed the agreement with the staff representatives to launch the third agreement for the three main subsidiaries in Spain that reduces the working day to 36 hours from the current 37.5 and shields the salary review clause with the CPI that made it possible to offset the sharp rise in prices in 2021 and 2022. This paves the way for a definitive alliance regarding the Employment Regulation File (ERE) for which there is already a principle of agreement and which will affect 3,400 workers in the country .

Both forced geographical mobility and the new professional classification were two obstacles that put employees on guard. The first was withdrawn in the meeting prior to this Thursday, which served to certify a pre-agreement with the negotiating table. Specifically, as UGT explains in its statement, the company’s final offer contemplates the maintenance of the current salary review clause linked to the CPI. This takes the form of a proposed increase of 1.5% per year and a review in relation to inflation at the end of the agreement, which will be valid until December 2026 with the possibility of extension for one more year.

The other relevant measure, which represents a novelty with respect to the agreement that is in force until December 31, has to do with the working day. Currently, Telefónica’s is 37.5 hours. UGT had demanded to reduce it to 36 hours during its validity, at a rate of half an hour annually. It has finally been accessed and will be at that level in 2026. To this must be added 6 days of leave for unjustified matters, along with a flexible bonus weekly working day.
