The fans of the Belgrade Club got out of control. The police intervened!

Just yesterday the match on matchday 15 of the regular Euroleague championship was played between the Spanish “Valencia” and the Serbian “Partizan”, and today interesting news has appeared on the scene. The Belgrade Club fans decided to sit in seats that do not belong to them in order to be closer to all Partizan fans. This caused outrage among Valencia fans, but how did the situation end? Let’s find out what happened.

Valencia: Claver, Puerto, Reuvers, Pradilla, López-Aróstegui, Jones, Inglis, Jovic, Touré, Hermannsson, Robertson, Davis

Partizan: Vukcevic, Ledej, Koprivica, Panther, Smailagic, Yaramaz, Nunnally, Andjusic, Dozier, Ponitka, Kaminski, Caboclo

After numerous complaints from fans of the host team, stadium security personnel had to intervene. The police tried to peacefully resolve the conflict with “Grobari” (a group of fans, which means “gravediggers”), but in the end they had to use force, and even batons were used. A few minutes later the conflict was resolved, but security officers remained in the stands until the end of the match and continued to monitor the actions of the Serbian guests.

The police try to appease Partizan fans:

The Valencia management immediately after the match apologized to all the people who witnessed such a situation in the Euroleague regular championship match.

Valencia apologizes to its fans, especially those located near sector 218, for the events in which Partizan fans were involved, occupying other people’s seats and showing uncivilized behavior, which forced the security forces to decide to relocate to “Partisan” fans instead. “The club will work to ensure that a similar situation never happens again,” the Spanish club said in a statement.

This is not the first time this season that Partizan fans have appeared in the news. Previously, a Partizan fan kissed a security officer twice during a Euroleague match against Baskonia. He was found guilty of sexual assault, fined, had his passport taken away and deported to Serbia.

The Partizan ultras organized a boycott. While the stands are empty, it’s on to basketball

All European basketball fans know how much Serbian fans support their clubs. Partizan is one of the main examples not only in Serbian sport but also in the world. The team’s fans are among the most passionate and rabid in terms of support for the team. Therefore, sometimes situations with fans get out of control.

“Partizan” will never turn its back on its fans, but most likely it will be punished in some way by the Euroleague. Probably, the next matches the club will have to play without fans, or the league management will decide to take some desperate step to cool the ardor of the Serbs. In any case, any emotion is better than its complete absence, even taking into account the risks.
