“It is true that without the help of the United States, kyiv would be in Russian hands today,” he said in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.

According to him, without the support of the United States, Europe will not be able to guarantee its security and this will become a big problem.

“For this reason alone we need to do much more in this area,” the politician stressed, adding that Ukrainian allies cannot be sure that the Democrats will always win every US presidential election.

Earlier, former Trump aide John Bolton said the Ukrainian conflict would end with Russia’s victory if the United States stopped helping Kiev. In his opinion, the Russian army is much larger than the Ukrainian one, and therefore the Armed Forces of Ukraine will always need “foreign help.”
