“On Sunday there were four attacks against three different commercial vessels in the international waters of the southern Red Sea,” the report said.

According to the department, the US Navy destroyer USS Carney recorded a missile attack from territory controlled by the Yemeni Houthis. The projectile barely touched the Unity Explorer freighter

The destroyer later shot down a drone launched from Yemen. The drone flew toward the warship, but the Pentagon does not say its target was Carney.

The warship shot down the second drone after responding to a signal from the same cargo ship that had previously reported a missile attack and minor damage. Another ship, Number 9, also reported being hit by a missile fired from Yemen. This time there were no injuries or injuries.

Some time later, the third ship Sophie II sent a distress signal reporting a missile hit. After this, the destroyer intercepted another drone.

According to Central Command, Carney and his crew were not injured during the incidents. They are confident that Yemen’s Houthis, allegedly “completely organized by Iran,” are involved in the attacks.

“The United States will consider an appropriate response in full coordination with international allies,” the defense department said, adding that the attacks are a “direct threat to international trade and maritime security.”
