“Very cold weather is expected over a vast territory of the country,” the TASS agency quotes the meteorologist. December 2-6 will be colder than normal in the Northwest. In addition, the temperature will be 7 to 14 degrees below normal and, in some places, 15 to 20 degrees. The temperature will drop to 16-23 degrees, and in the Arkhangelsk region, the Komi and Nenets Autonomous Okrug – to minus 30 degrees at night.
In the center, the cooling peak will occur on December 5 and 6: frosts will reach between 16 and 23 degrees, between 7 and 12 degrees below normal.
Abnormal cold will reach the Urals, the Volga region, Siberia and the Far East. In the Perm Territory, the Kirov region, Udmurtia and Mari El at night it drops to -23 degrees, in the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansiysk districts it is 40 degrees below zero. In the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan and Tyumen regions – up to 20-27 degrees, in the Tomsk and Omsk regions – up to 27-35 degrees below zero.
Severe cold will reach the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Magadan region and the Khabarovsk Territory, Yakutia and Chukotka. Thus, in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory the temperature will drop to -42 degrees, in Chukotka – to -43-49 degrees, in Yakutia – to 54 degrees.
Earlier, the head of the laboratory of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, Lyudmila Parshina, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta that December in general in the center and northwest promises to be frosty. Temperatures will be on average one degree below the climatic norm. This means that at night the prevailing temperature will be -5 to 10 degrees, and during the day – from minus 1 to 8 degrees.
