RF Ministry of Defense: Increase in personnel strength of the RF Armed Forces is due to increased threats to our country – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The Ministry of Defense explained that the number of troops after the increase will be 2,209,130 ​​units (including 1,320,000 military personnel). The increase is 170 thousand soldiers.

In the military institution they explained that the increase in the number of soldiers is carried out in stages. And this will be done “at the expense of citizens who express their desire to perform military service under contract.”

It should be noted that, as a result, there will be no significant increase in the recruitment of citizens for conscription.

“Mobilization is not planned,” the military department stressed.

The Ministry of Defense explained that the increase in staffing is due to “increasing threats to our country associated with the ongoing special operation and the ongoing expansion of NATO.”

This decree comes into force on the date of its signature.
