Since the beginning of the year, the fortune of Russian billionaires has increased by $38.575 million, with the fortune of LUKOIL co-owner Vagit Alekperov increasing the most. He added another 9 billion to last year’s 15 billion, and most of our other rich people, despite the sanctions, did not lose money. Has the fortune of businessman Suleiman Kerimov, who fell under Western sanctions, decreased by $650 million since the beginning of the year? These are our biggest losses, and now with 8.34 billion dollars from him, Kerimov is still on the outskirts of the Russian TOP-ten.
In total, 25 Russians appear on the list of the 500 richest people in the world and since the beginning of the year their total wealth has increased by $38.575 billion, according to the latest data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
“I would not exaggerate the value of this rating,” Evgeniy Kogan, professor at the Higher School of Economics and author of the bitkogan telegram channel, told KP. – In it, the wealth of this or that businessman is evaluated by the price of shares, and that: well, today they sank, tomorrow they rose. All this is conditional. However, some general conclusions can be drawn. We see that the Russian market has grown quite a bit recently. As a result, the players in this market have become richer.
In the ranking of Russian leaders there are representatives of different industries: oil, metallurgy, chemical industry, finance… So perhaps this “Bloomberg list” will be useful as a guide: which of the captains of industry companies will be made richer: small investors can invest their money there. For example, the oil king Alekperov: plus 60%, no joke.
“For investments to be successful, it is not necessary to look at the fact of what happened, but to be able to predict what will happen,” Kogan noted instructively. – Now we can expect growth in the oil industry, banking, the chemical industry, agricultural operations and the food industry in general. The owners of such companies may well increase their capitalization, and investors may make money.
On a global scale, the number of billionaires between April 2022 and April 2023 increased by 7%: from 2,376 to 2,544 people, calculated the Swiss bank USB. A year earlier, the wallets of the wealthy were on average 20% lighter, and over the past year they have begun to replenish themselves again. Their combined wealth increased by 9%. What’s also interesting is that, for the first time in nine years of research, billionaires have accumulated most of their wealth through inheritance. As they say, money is money.
