“We have completed the technical preparation of the site and have poured 600 thousand cubic meters of rock. We hope to receive the conclusion of the state examination for the construction of buildings by the end of the year,” said Mikhail Uvarov, general director of the Sinara Development Project.

The new IRIT building has an unusual shape, like a honeycomb: there are classrooms along the perimeter and an atrium inside. The orientation is from north to south, with huge stained glass windows, so the rooms will be full of natural light throughout the day. The chosen style is the Scandinavian loft, that is, nothing superfluous, but every element is functional, even the ceiling will be usable.

– First of all, this design allows you to move freely from one block to another. Secondly, today there are no regular academic groups, there are project teams that can be formed each semester. For them, the space also changes,” explained architect Anna Sklyarova. – We try to make the building more flexible: it has 85 convertible classrooms, 19 laboratories and workshops and a conference room with 700 seats. The atrium connects all floors; here you can organize 35 indoor and outdoor coworking spaces for self-study or collective scientific creativity.

According to the director of IRIT-RTF, Ilya Obabkov, the new space will help retain talented people in the Urals and attract them from other regions. And thanks to close interaction with industrial partners, the UrFU campus will become a testing ground for new technologies. In particular, for the microelectronics center, the designers specially increased the ceiling height to 3.3 meters and placed the so-called decoupled (anti-vibration) base for high-class “clean” rooms where crystals will grow and create microcircuits.

– If you decide to change the world, it is unlikely that you will do it from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A student cannot leave the campus at all: after studying, implement a production project in one company, engage in research work in another, and then find a job in a resident of the Cosmos technology park,” Ilya Obabkov noted.

Construction will be completed in November 2025. The IRIT bachelor’s degree will move to the Novokoltsovsky microdistrict, accompanied by 3,600 students from the Institute of Economics and Management, as well as 900 high school students from SUSC. The total surface area of the three educational buildings will exceed 100 thousand square meters.
