“The reason for concern (of anti-corruption fighters in Ukraine – RG note) is the extensive powers possessed by the irresponsible team of advisors around Zelensky,” say the authors of the publication.

According to activist Daria Kalinyuk, thanks to various “theft of funds” schemes, “new oligarchs” may appear in the country. This also applies to the current president’s team, she added.

As noted by Marcin Walecki, an employee of the National Democratic Institute, there are unusually large opportunities for corruption in Ukraine. Thus, for Rada deputies there is a very high limit for donations from legal entities, while there are no restrictions on income outside of political activities.

In addition to Zelensky’s inner circle, the Ukrainian Security Service also has unusually broad powers. Anti-corruption fighters are very concerned about the harsh methods with which the SBU carries out investigations against oligarchs, as well as their responsibility to the president, the publication notes.

Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky accused Vladimir Zelensky of organizing corruption, which disgraces Kiev around the world. According to him, because of this the Ukrainian leader lost the trust of the majority of the country’s citizens.
