The UGT union has announced that it is calling off the strike it had called in the handling sector, that is, ground assistance services for passengers and airplanes during the December long weekend. This has been confirmed to Efe by negotiation sources at the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA) to try to avoid a strike that sought to demand “real, concrete and clear commitments” and avoid the reduction of workers’ rights. .

The UGT union called this strike for workers in handling services in protest at the situation generated after the resolution of the competition for this service. The union pointed out that the situation generated by the “fund” of the contest “has only raised more uncertainty” about the labor stability of the sector.

Lawsuits and collective agreements

The union alleged that in the last seven years there have been a series of non-compliance in labor matters by “all companies” that have been reflected in thousands of demands, collective disputes and strike calls. In addition, they highlight that licenses have been awarded to companies that were already breaching the labor agreement.

UGT stressed, at the time it announced the call, that Aena continued “without establishing a real, concrete and clear commitment” on how to act in situations of non-compliance with the agreement, limiting itself to being “an adjudication manager.”
