Veterinarian Shelyakov explained how to protect pets from reagents on the street.

Reagents used to spray streets and highways to remove snow and ice in winter can cause problems with animals’ paws. For example, in Moscow, where the authorities use natural and low-toxic substances, veterinarians also recommend playing it safe.

As Mikhail Shelyakov, a top veterinarian, told aif.ru, to avoid irritation to pets’ paws, contact with reagents should be minimized, for example, by carrying the pet in your arms to clean paths.

You can buy special shoes for dogs in pet stores, they should fit the size of the paws and not rub anywhere. Additionally, Shelyakov notes, you can apply a layer of special wax to your pet’s paws.

The veterinarian reminded that after a walk on the street it is necessary to wash the dog’s paws or wipe them with a damp cloth.
