The Defense Cooperation Agreement grants the United States access to Finnish military bases. Washington can store its equipment and ammunition there. The US military will be within the legal framework of the United States.

Most parties in the Finnish parliament see the agreement as the next step after joining NATO. The document will soon be presented to the country’s parliament for consideration.

The list of bases will be made public when the document is approved by the governments of both countries. The same agreement will be concluded with Sweden. The United States and Norway already have agreements in this area.
